Vinschger railway – an experience for all the family

Since 5 May 2005 we can once again board the train in the Vinschgau region. The Vinschger railway invites you to explore the western part of South Tyrol, between Merano and Mals, comfortably and safely. It will be a very special kind of pleasure: varied landscape, environmentally friendly transport and relaxation.
By railway you can easily reach cycle tracks as well as hiking trails. You can take a little cultural break in a village here in there: the Laaser marble works, impressive Churburg castle with its well-stocked armour, Juval castle, residence of mountaineer Reinhold Messner as well as the Prokulus church near Naturns with the oldest frescoes in the German-speaking world.

Rittner Bahn'l railway – the historical narrow-gauge railway of South Tyrol!

A trip with the old “Bummelbahn” will be an adventure for big and small alike. The narrow-gauge railway by the Rittner high altitude pain, which was put into operation in 1907. Locals still affectionately call it “Bahn’l”. It links the Rittner towns of Maria Himmelfahrt, Oberbozen, Wolfsgruben, Lichtenstern and Klobenstein and leaves every hour. The romantic route will take you through charming woods and meadows, giving you panoramic views of the magnificent scenery of the South Tyrolean mountains.

Nowadays, a trip to the good old railway stations in Bolzano, Klausen, Brixen or Bruneck with the associated railway station atmosphere (a babble of voices, busy people in suits, public announcements, the rumbling and squeaking of train breaks) is a wonderful experience for children.
