Walks for the whole family or challenging mountain tours – Sarntal has it all!

Satisfy your thirst for knowledge with adventure

What's that? A huge dragonfly in the midst of the Sarntal valley countryside? Yes, really. At the sight of this, children's hands and feet are unable stay still and they scramble towards the giant insect. This is one of the highlights of the Urlesteig path, where Sarntal valley tradition and history are explored as well as the local flora and fauna. Whether an eventful circular walk or exciting day trip, the Urlesteig path is split into four sections, allowing a degree of flexibility and making this family walk into an educational experience involving fun and games amidst an autumnal atmosphere.

Fascination with a view

Not every autumn day brings the sun with it. But optimists see cloudy weather as having its positive sides, too. Seeing the 'Stoanernen Mandlen' cairns standing in front of you enveloped in an autumnal haze and fine mist creates a mystical atmosphere. Legend has it that witches' dances and devilish festivities took place here. An easy and family-friendly walk to this gathering of stone cairns which have been a part of this legend-steeped landscape for 5 centuries is also worth a trip in good weather, of course. The Alpine pasture ridge affords great views across the impressive Dolomites, which also have their own stories to tell.

Scaling the heights

The heat of high summer is now behind us and instead of the promise of cool weather it is the sheer pleasure in walking that sees people taking to the mountains. With the aim of enjoying spectacular views in mind, amateur and professional mountaineers are seized by the longing to conquer mountain peaks. On reaching the summit cross all previous exertion is forgotten and only the moment counts. Breathing in, breathing out, savouring. There are lots of great mountain peak tours to be done from Sarntal valley. Kassianspitze, Seeblspitze or Karnspitze are good destinations for catching wonderful autumnal views across the mountains and valleys.
Its unspoilt character and rustic environment with the fragrance of Sarntal valley dwarf pine wafting through it means that Sarntal valley in autumn is a hiking paradise. On a short break at Garni Hueber you'll find yourself right at the start of all the great tours that Sarntal valley in autumn has to offer. What are you waiting for? Put on your hiking boots and off you go!
