Time for a massage: extra sweet!

Frida and Hubert Oberhammer's holiday house looks as if it has been lifted straight out of a fairytale. Extensive meadows stretch out in front of it and there is forest nearby, too. It is situated right in the middle of the countryside. And the landlords have brought the countryside indoors so that it becomes part of everyday life. Into the house, in the form of wood, stone, hand-crafted decorations from natural materials. But, above all, it is outside, in the charming garden bursting with flowers still splendid in late autumn that the couple's close relationship with nature may be seen. Observant eyes will notice a few beehives here and there. Frida Oberhammer is a beekeeper – a genuine friend of the bees!

The life's work of bees

A quiet, friendly woman who knows exactly how to explain which feats the hard-working, black-and-yellow-striped winged creatures can achieve, and what they give to us humans, including lots of background knowledge and appreciation. At Apartments Eden, where the name itself promises wonderful things, she offers honey massages. She only uses own-produced honey, blossom and woodland honey.
But first things first:

Honey massage

Anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, detoxifying – honey has lots of remarkable properties. And Frida Oberhammer makes use of these. She has been on two courses to learn how to give honey massages, but there's more to it than just knowledge. She seems to be a natural at it, being a profound, spiritual woman, and she knows a great deal about people, their bodies and souls. About staying healthy and the importance of wellbeing. She carries out her honey massages with devotion, with concentration, with care – a massage takes 45 minutes. First of all, Frida massages creamy blossom honey very gently with her fingertips into the back, so that the honey penetrates and releases toxins and waste products from the body. It promotes relaxation at the same time, as this massage has a warming effect, at least by the time Frida places a warm, moist, towel on your back after the first stage. This optimises the honey's effect.

Then she washes the remaining honey off and moves on to the second stage. For this, she uses liquid woodland honey and massages it into the back again. A light milky layer now forms on the skin – toxins and waste products are drawn out of the depths of the body, the honey dissolves and is rinsed off. Once again, a warm, moist towel is placed on the back. Frida stands barefoot on the heated stone floor, as the ground lends her strength and energy, which she then tranfers through her hands to the resting client. She serves warm peppermint tea with honey after every massage – it is important to drink a lot. And she recommends repeating the honey massage after ten days.

The (Fr)i(da)-cing on the cake

Actually, simply staying at Apartments Eden should be enough to absorb a little of the mindfulness, joy and strength that Frida Oberhammer emanates. Not just on the massage couch, but in the organic sauna, jacuzzi or infrared cabin, too. The honey massage is 'just' the (Fr)i(da)-cing on Frida's cake. But it's definitely worth trying out!
